UK: British Airways cabin crew begin five-day strike
Please note that British Airways cabin crew started a fresh five-day strike on Sunday (May 30) with little sign of a breakthrough in the long-running dispute between their union and the airline.
The latest strike by crew in the Unite union is set to disrupt travel in the half-term school holidays, with another five-day stoppage planned from June 5.
The walkout affects flights from BA's London Heathrow hub, the world's busiest international passenger airport.
BA said it would increase its flying schedule in the coming week as more cabin crew than expected had decided to work as normal during the strikes.
Its schedule of long-haul flights from London Heathrow will be increased to more than 70 percent -- up from more than 60 percent this week.
The short-haul schedule will rise to more than 55 percent of flights, up from more than 50 percent this week.
Domestic services from Heathrow were among the hardest hit Sunday, with all six flights to Manchester cancelled and one of seven to Glasgow operating. One of nine flights to New York was cancelled, while four of seven to Amsterdam and one of seven to Paris was scrapped.

Passenger Fuel Surcharge Revised Effective 01 June 2010
Please be informed that fuel surcharge will be revised by airlines effective 01 June 2010.
Please be advised of the following developments that may impact your travel programme.
Travelers are in for another harrowing day as the Air India employees strike enters the second day, more than 13 thousand employees went on a flash strike on Tuesday; pilots though are not on strike.
One round of meeting with the management has failed while another one is scheduled today and if that fails, the Air India chief doesn't rule out sacking striking employees. The management issued a showcause notice on some key union leaders yesterday.
Meanwhile, thousands of passengers are stranded.
Air India has made arrangements with Jet Airways and Kingfisher to carry passengers while the strike continues but if it continues for too long over 100 flights could be affected out of 250 flights.
